Nikon D3S Launch & Progress

The Impact of the Nikon D3S

Whilst the Nikon D3S might not have the same dramatic impact that the announcement over the Nikon D3 had on the world of photography, it does promise to raise the DSLR standards and produce better images than ever before. In particular people have made note of the extreme low noise and the ability to shoot amazing clarity even in lowlight. The ISO rating enables the photographer to shoot images for all formats, with the upper ratings meeting the standards of anything on the market (though questionably not having a usable purpose at this time).

The Nikon D3S is due to go public at the end of November/the beginning of December, leading the charge of an already impressive array of digital technology. This top of the class camera is aimed primarily at professional users who will be able to fully utilize the range of innovative features that the camera offers. Casual and semi-professional users would be well advised to look further down the range for more affordable camera, unless you've just come into a large sum of money or are looking to move up to the professional level of the photography industry.

A lot has been said about the rivalry between Canon and Nikon, though this seems to be mainly between users and fans of both brands rather than between the companies themselves. Both provide excellent photographic equipment and continue to maintain excellent customer relations with good reason. With that said, we wonder if a few current Canon users might be tempted by the high-grade specifications offered by the Nikon D3S, even if it does mean deserting “their brand”. Those we have spoken to have her assured us that Canon will offer an equally impressive model themselves within the next six months, and we feel an announcement isn't far away.
